"Maize undersowing easy": economical, soil-improving and water-protecting

About
With "Maize undersowing easy", an undersown crop is sown between the rows of maize at a distance of approx. 20 cm from each maize row at the same time as the maize is sown – even on hillsides and slopes. Very slow-growing lawn red fescue varieties are used as underseeded grass. Growth competition for nutrients, water and light between the undersown grass and maize is avoided despite the early undersowing date. For the sowing of the underseed, a patented additional device on the maize seeder is required.
"Maize undersowing easy" was developed based on practical experience and on farm research . It has been scientifically proven that maize does not suffer any loss of yield, that less nitrogen is leached out (water protection), that the undersown crop has a positive effect on the humus content and that weeds (e.g. millet) can be successfully controlled.
The nitrogen savings are significantly higher than the additional costs of undersowing. Compared to sowing cover crops after the maize harvest, no additional tillage or additional sowing is necessary. This saves time and costs.
