Technical failures, rigid maintenance intervals, and unexpected downtimes are undesirable in any application. In the agricultural sector in particular, electromechanical breakdowns can lead to high costs, for example, when a seeder fails precisely at the moment the seeds need to be sown. But what if each individual motor-gear unit is equipped with intelligence at the actuator level - smart enough to enable the status of the actuators to be viewed at any time?
At IMS Gear, we are committed to turning this vision into reality - without the need for expensive additional sensors. Since in agriculture small gearboxes are often used, it is neither economically nor ecologically viable to use sensor technology that is more expensive than the actuator itself. However, for feedback control at least one measure (e.g. motor voltage or current) is recorded, which contains physical information about the status of the individual motor-gear unit. This is where our innovative approach as a forward-looking company begins. We are developing a digital service that enables real-time monitoring of actuator conditions - with the goal of detecting potential failures early and preventing them proactively. Each motor-gear unit is registered via a cloud platform. The transmitted data is analyzed using advanced analytics or deep learning algorithms. A user-friendly interface provides full transparency of the condition of all connected devices at any time - allowing maintenance actions to be initiated immediately when needed.
