Sensor technology has become indispensable in agricultural engineering and is playing an increasingly important role in the efficient use of harvesting machines. The sensors in Schumacher's new ProDrive Premium Smart Drive provide crucial data for controlling driving speed and throughput, increasing field capacity by 10-15% and optimizing threshing quality. Other positive
results include a homogeneous crop flow, collision and foreign object detection, and overload protection for the combine harvester. This in turn results in less wear, lower fuel consumption, and scheduled maintenance thanks to wear detection. In addition, the collected data can be used to
generate information about the soil conditions, which enables the creation of a field database and thus contributes to the optimization of follow-up work, such as straw recovery or post-harvest processing of the fields. The sensor-supported ProDrive Premium Smart thus increases the overall performance of the machine and significantly reduces the workload for the driver.
