Effective management of silos is crucial for maintaining the quality and quantity of stored materials like grain, feed, or other bulk goods. Challenges in silo management often include maintaining optimal storage conditions, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
WIKA has developed an strain transducer with a wireless module to set up an IIoT-based monitoring system for silo operators. Model F98W transmits its measured values via the LoRaWAN standard. The signals from all sensors integrated into the system are transmitted to a gateway with an Internet connection or SIM card, depending on the infrastructure. From there, the information is bundled and transferred to a cloud for evaluation and visualisation on a dashboard. The system is scalable at any time.
Both new and existing silos can be equipped with WIKA strain gauges. The measuring instruments are easy to install: They are bolted to the supports of the silos and for this reason are also an economical solution.
By implementing the WIKA silo management technology, more efficiency, transparency and sustainability are achieved.
