Spot-spraying under the microscope: targeted application of crop protection products. What is the current status of this technology?

Practical Session: Spot-Spraying – Less Chemicals, Higher Yields?

CropEx - On-farm research with farmer's equipment

"With the CropEx trial concept, Syngenta pursues the approach of answering questions at a practical farming level alongside traditional small-plot trials. For the preliminary selection of fields, historical satellite imagery of individual areas is analyzed to identify suitable locations. The large plots or trial strips are then positioned based on existing field data and finalized in coordination with the farm operation. For the actual trial implementation, the farm receives application maps and current information about optimal application conditions. Throughout the season, the fields are continuously monitored via satellite, drone, or field sensors, and finally evaluated using yield maps after harvest. The CropEx approach is applied according to the trial objective (variety comparison, fertilization trial, application rate comparisons, etc., or combinations of these factors)."
