WWF Baltic Sea Farmer of the Year Award 2025 - Ceremony
Since 2013, the WWF has been awarding the title of "Baltic Sea Farmer of the Year" to farms that have made a special contribution to protecting the Baltic Sea. The Baltic Sea is still almost completely polluted with nutrients. A large proportion of this comes from agriculture. But instead of pointing the finger at farmers, the WWF would like to draw attention to those who are already setting a good example. A jury of experts from the fields of science, farmers' associations and environmental protection will evaluate the approaches of the competing farms. Innovations in nutrient management, digital solutions such as precision farming or agro-forestry systems are particularly rewarded. The protection of biodiversity and the climate also carry weight.
This year's competition takes place in five countries: Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden and Germany. The winners from each country will compete against each other once again. The international "WWF Baltic Sea Farmer 2025" will be chosen at Agritechnika. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros. The German winner, Christian Rohlfing, and the winners from the participating countries will have their say at the award ceremony. Dr. Finn Viehberg, Head of the Baltic Sea Office in Stralsund, will speak on behalf of the WWF. Further guests and speakers are still being requested.
