Managing Director
EXCEL FARMS
Nick Paterson grew up on his family farm near Willaura, Victoria, where his passion for agriculture began at a young age. Nick quickly gained exposure and experience in the industry, with the opportunity to work in a diverse range of roles both at home and abroad in mixed livestock and feedlot enterprises, before persuing tertiary studies. After completing a Bachelor of Farm Business Management at Marcus Oldham College, Nick returned to take on the family farm, while simultaneously using his experience in supply chain logistics to build and direct a transport and commodity trading business.
Today, Nick is the director of Excel Farms, a mid-sized corporate farming enterprise with several properties located across Australia. The business operates a diverse mix of cropping and mixed enterprise strategies. Nick’s focus has been on acquiring underperforming properties and transforming them into large-scale investment-grade assets.
With 17 years of experience in the agricultural industry, Nick has a strong commitment to sustainable farming and responsible ESG models. This passion has helped shape Excel Farms into a corporate business that combines the culture and agility of a family farm with the use of modern systems and technology to deliver long-term success.
