Significant negative and positive externalities arise in today’s agricultural and food systems, referring to costs and benefits of farming that are not reflected in market prices but impact society. The BMEL-funded project “DaVaSus” serves as a case study to test and evaluate various approaches for on-farm assessment of these externalities. This presentation provides an overview of digital measurement instruments and modeling tools and evaluates them based on criteria such as reliability, user-friendliness and economic viability. The findings contribute to the current discourse on the potential remuneration of agricultural ecosystem services.
