DEV system is Preco’s next-generation grain dryer architecture. Our new modular system opens the possibility
to adapt to diverse process requirements while minimizing energy consumption, reducing sound emissions,
and reducing particulate contamination at any throughput.
DEV system is categorized into the following series:
• DEV – entry-level configuration with a basic, cost-efficient design and passive dust reduction
• DEV-C – enhanced configuration with insulation and active dust removal system CS
• DEV-R – energy-efficient configuration with full insulation, heat recovery and semi-active dust removal
during discharges
• DEV-RC – premium configuration with heat recovery, full insulation, top-blow noise reduction, combined
active (CS) and semi-active (Recovery) dust removal
Each series can be configured in different lengths and heights depending on throughput requirements and
specific operating conditions defined by the user.
DEV System — Essential Components:
Base design
Drying column:
The smooth-wall design without internal bolts improves material flow and reduces the risk of material buildup. The DEV system’s tapered channel geometry ensures more uniform material drying, while optimized airflow distribution enables more consistent drying performance.
Heaters:
Direct gas burner (1) is a commonly applied heating solution, suitable for a broad capacity range and supports natural gas or LPG. Hot air temperature is precisely maintained by the Preco PID control. As an alternative, Preco produces heat exchangers (2) with capacities from 450 kW to 2 MW, which can be operated with either oil or gas burners. But it does not end there — the DEV system is versatile and can be adapted to any available heat source on site.
Pneumatic Feeding Section:
To ensure uniform emptying across the entire cross section, the discharge system uses openings with a variable cross sectional design to compensate for the slower material flow near the walls caused by friction. An additional sensor at the hopper enhances dryer control by enabling more accurate feed-out metering.
Ventilation
Premium dust separation fans "Centro Separator" :
Designed for operations with strict dust emission requirements. Available in power range from 30 kW to 132 kW. Supplied as standard with service hatches, access platforms and a rotary air lock.
Standard low pressure radial fans :
Standard fans with pneumatic air shutters close airflow during discharge, keeping dust inside the material — this is what we call passive dust separation.
Heat Recovery
Dynamic air flow control enables switching between defined stages of cold, hot and recirculated air, ensuring energy savings and adaptation to different crops and process conditions. (1) During heat recovery, semi-active dust separation removes coarse particles from the recirculated air by centrifugal force (2), while fine particles are returned and trapped in the grain column instead of being released into the environment.
