Originally designed to protect actuators from accidental activations and ergonomically support the operator’s hands. The frame now, thanks to its modular design, becomes an integral and active part of the control functions. AUTEC’s Power Bar® is designed to improve operator comfort, simplify use, and increase the safety of some critical operations.
For operators of mobile machines and various industrial equipment, the remote control is an indispensable tool for performing their daily work safely and easily. In line with this vision, AUTEC has enhanced the remote-control frame to improve its effectiveness and performance.
The “Operator-Presence” Sensor and Vibration Feedback
“The new “Operator-Presence” system replace the additional button normally used for the movement of aerial platforms, but it is also highly useful for various models of mobile machines in the lifting, drilling, and industrial handling sectors,” explains Matteo Tennina, Application Engineer Manager at AUTEC. “This allows manufacturers to customize the machine’s reaction. The remote control can signal when a hand is placed or removed from the frame, leaving the manufacturer to decide whether to stop the machine, slow down a specific movement, or emit a warning signal. Additionally, the remote control can distinguish between the left and right hand, offering further customization possibilities.” Furthermore, manufacturers can choose to integrate vibration as a warning signal instead of traditional buzzers, a solution particularly appreciated in noisy environments.
The New Design
The design of the new Power Bar® - made of an extremely resistant plastic material, reinforced with fiberglass - features a flat, rubberized surface where the operator can comfortably rest their hands. The central part has been expanded to accommodate larger displays, ranging from 4.3 inches (compared to the previous 2.8 inches) up to 6.8 inches for the largest model. The larger displays are programmable in standard Codesys/Jmobile, while the 4.3-inch version uses a new proprietary software developed with “AUTEC Studio,” also compliant with the international IEC 61131-3 standard. The interaction buttons with the display have been moved from the top side to the sides of the display itself, increasing accessibility with a total of four buttons on each side. These improvements allow for more intuitive and faster use of the display, simplifying access to information and machine data navigation.
Optional Features that Make a Difference
“Night Mode” and Display Cover
For applications that require night work or in low-light conditions, AUTEC introduces the LED lighting option for the entire panel, ensuring greater visibility. Additionally, the addition of a front light illuminates the operator’s working area, making it ideal for forestry, road, tunnel, or night construction work. The options are completed with a flip-up display cover, which protects the monitor from sunlight, ensuring a clear view in any condition and allowing the operator to safeguard the display in the presence of mortar, plaster, and paint without worries. This system eliminates the need for tear-off visors, which are particularly cumbersome to manage, especially when wearing gloves.
Everything Tailor-Made
“On the new Power Bar®, it will be possible to program all options by deciding frequency, intensity, shutdown, and much more. At AUTEC, there are no pre-packaged solutions; the remote control is always customized to the needs of each customer, and the new Power Bar® further amplifies our ability to offer tailor-made products” concludes Tennina.
