How can we achieve sustainable agriculture - productive, climate-friendly and resource-efficient? At our joint area with the Agrotech Valley Forum e.V., the Zentrum für digitale Innovationen Niedersachsen (ZDIN), the Future Lab Agrar and the future lab Wasser show how digital solutions from research and practice come together.
The ZDIN connects research facilities and industry in Lower Saxony and brings results from the future labs into application. The future lab Agrar works on end-to-end data flows, data sovereignty and transparency. It also tests automation and autonomy in agricultural technology. The future lab Wasser transfers digitalization to water management in agriculture: sensor technology, AI and digital twins help to bridge dry periods, manage flooding and optimize irrigation and drainage.
Based on findings from the Future Labs for Agriculture and Water, scientists in the AdAgriSpray project are developing AI-supported sensor systems for agricultural machinery. These systems detect bodies of water and temporary water accumulations and adaptively control application rates - for legally compliant distances, less pesticide use, and more sustainable application.
