In 2025, Capello of Cuneo, a brand esteemed and known worldwide for its cereal harvesting equipment, celebrates a sixty-year history of innovations and successes that continues to this day.
In 1965, brothers Renato and Francesco Capello, starting from a small agricultural machinery repair shop located in Verzuolo and then moved in the mid-seventies to Borgo Gesso, a small hamlet of Cuneo, specialized in the construction of corn headers, identifying in this product multiple possibilities for technological and commercial development.
The company immediately grew and reflected a dual soul, just like that of the Capello brothers: on one hand, a great practical capacity and technical experience, on the other, the intuition that guided them in the search for new markets, which translated into an urgency to establish commercial relationships outside national borders. In a historical period, the seventies, when most companies focused on the domestic market as their primary objective, Capello's strategy was already geared towards export. Overcoming logistical and linguistic difficulties, the Capello brothers explored the main European markets, such as France, Greece, Spain, and Germany, and achieved encouraging results, starting exports to these countries in 1977.
The 80s and 90s highlighted this line of conduct: on one hand, technological innovations were revolutionary for the sector, such as the first folding headers, which facilitated road circulation, and the horizontal stalk chopper, unique in those years, to reduce the time for soil preparation after harvest. On the commercial side, the brand became increasingly relevant internationally, and in 1996, Capello signed an exclusive supply contract for corn headers with Claas-CAT, for the United States and Canadian markets. Agreements of this kind underscore the high organizational and production level achieved, as well as the ability to forge significant and lasting collaborative relationships with globally prominent partners.
Concurrently with this technical-commercial evolution, the brand acquired the facilities of the former Celdit cellulose factory, which provided spaces suitable for new production needs and would become the current production site, strategically positioned at the gates of the city of Cuneo.
Meanwhile, Elio, Alberto, and Andrea Capello, sons of the founders, ensured family continuity by taking on managerial roles at the head of the company's various departments. Recent years have seen a profound transformation in production processes that brought the company to an industrial level and marked Capello's definitive affirmation on the world stage. Its roots in various territories are supported by the creation of branches in Europe, North America, and Asia, in order to establish a direct relationship with a highly diverse clientele. New products are designed, built, and marketed to offer an increasingly complete range in the field of grain harvesting, a unique characteristic and further distinctive element of a brand that has made listening to customer needs its cornerstone.
